Zusammenfassung: Die UN-Agenda 2030 nimmt alle Länder in die Pflicht, bis ins Jahr 2030 17 Nachhaltigkeitsziele zu erreichen. Bibliotheken handeln bereits zugunsten der nachhaltigen Entwicklung und leisten mit ihrer Arbeit einen wichtigen Beitrag zur Zielerreichung, stellen den Kontext zur Agenda 2030 aber nur selten her, wie die Prüfung von betrieblichen Dokumenten, Websites sowie Facebookbeiträgen im Rahmen dieser Arbeit zeigt. Aus den so gesammelten Best-Practice-Beispielen wurde ein Massnahmenkatalog mit 45 Ideen erarbeitet, der Bibliotheken in ihrer Nachhaltigkeits- und Vermittlungsarbeit durch den hergestellten Bezug zur Agenda 2030 stärken soll. Anders als die bereits bestehenden Beispielsammlungen berücksichtigt die vorliegende Sammlung die unterschiedlichen Bedürfnisse der Bibliotheken, indem sie jedes Best-Practice-Beispiel in neun Kategorien verschiedenen Kriterien zuordnet. Abstract: The UN’s 2030 Agenda obliges all countries to achieve 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) by 2030. The examination of internal documents, websites and Facebook posts within this thesis showsthat libraries already act in favor of sustainable development and thus make an important contribution to achieving the goals, but only rarely establish the context of the 2030 Agenda. From the best practice examples collected this way, a catalogue of measures with 45 ideas was developed, which is intended to strengthen libraries in their sustainability and educational work by establishing a reference to the 2030 Agenda. Unlike the existing collections of examples, the present collection addresses the different needs of libraries by classifying the best practice examples in nine categories according to different criteria.

Das Thema Nachhaltigkeit hat in den letzten Jahren auch dank der Fridays For Future Be- wegung zunehmend an Bedeutung gewonnen. Bibliotheken sind per Definition nachhaltig durch die Bereitstellung und Ausleihe von Medien. Zusätzlich präsentieren sie ihrer Kund- schaft Aktionen und Projekte wie glqqSaatgutbibliothekengrqq, welche inspirieren sollen, sich mit Nachhaltigkeit und den 17 Nachhaltigkeitszielen (SDGs) zu beschäftigen. Doch welche Strategie verfolgen Bibliotheken, um dieses Thema intern zu integrieren? Diese literaturba- sierte Arbeit gibt einen Überblick über Nachhaltigkeit und im Besonderen über Nachhaltig- keitsstrategien. Dazu wird kurz ein Überblick über die historische Entwicklung der Nach- haltigkeit und der nachhaltigen Aktivitäten des Weltverbandes der Bibliotheken (IFLA), des Deutschen Bibliotheksverbandes (dbv) und des Netzwerks Grüne Bibliothek gegeben. Ver- vollständigt wird dies durch ein Kapitel zur Strategieentwicklung. Der erhaltene Überblick wird mit praxisnahen Fallbeispielen von öffentlichen und wissenschaftlichen Bibliotheken aus Deutschland, Hong Kong und Oulu (Finnland) abgeglichen, mit dem Ziel eine Hand- lungsempfehlung für eine erfolgreiche Nachhaltigkeitsstrategie für Bibliotheken zu erhalten. Diese Handlungsempfehlung möchte Bibliotheken dazu anregen, eine solche Strategie, ge- stützt mit den drei Aspekten Sichtbarkeit, Vernetzung & Kooperation und Engagement der Mitarbeitenden für die eigene Bibliothek zu entwerfen.

The American Library Association (ALA) and the Sustainable Libraries Initiative (SLI) have teamed up to create a National Climate Action Strategy for Libraries to be released later this year. Both organizations have been working to raise awareness in the profession for the need to act with urgency to create communities of practice that can help library workers understand the issue and that can provide the practical approaches to manage the predicted impacts and systemic nature of climate change.

In 2021 the National Library of Scotland launched a four-year Climate Action Plan, to run from 2021-25. This seeks to embed sustainability into the Library's working practices, prepare for the impact of climate change, and enable us to progress towards achieving net-zero by 2045. In 2021-22 the Library achieved good progress or completed 59% of actions. Limited progress was made to another 17%.

Hierzulande gibt es ca. 10.000 Bibliotheken, die jährlich von rund 220 Millionen Menschen besucht werden.1 Das ist ein gewaltiges Potenzial: Einerseits, um den ökologischen Fußabdruck im Alltag zahlreicher Bibliotheken zu verringern und anderseits, um als Multiplikator in die Gesellschaft zu wirken. Die am 26. Januar 2018 in Berlin gegründete Interessengemeinschaft „Netzwerk Grüne Bibliothek“ will in diesem Sinne tätig werden.

At the enf of October, the New Mexico Library Association (NMLA) held a conference with a focus on sustainability in libraries. Themed as LibrarySTRONG, the conference explored how libraries are: sustainable, thriving, resilient, open, network builders, and green. Taking a lead from the American Library Association's designation of sustainability as a core value of librarianship in 2019, this theme was proposed by several individuals interested in how libraries in New Mexico could consider and apply sustainability more broadly in their everyday work. This is particularly relevant to the NMLA organization as it launches into its 100th anniversary year in 2023, and considers the future of organization and librarianship. Over 185 people from the U.S. and Canada attended the conference.

On the August 18-19, 2022 the annual Baltic New Professionals Meeting was held in Tallinn Estonia. It was organized by the Estonian Librarians Association's Young Professionals Club. The topic of the meeting was ``Green Libraries''. Success stories from museums, archives, and other information institutions were also shared. New library specialists from Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania shared various examples of sustainable development actions both from the Baltic States and the whole world.

These include learning about sustainability through various ways including reading the final report of the American Library Association's Special Task Force on Sustainability; using the tool, the Road Map to Sustainability, provided by the New York Library Association; and comparing notes with other stakeholders in one's organization.

Sustainability is often described as a healthy balance between the environment, economy and equality. Online learning can promote the three tiered concepts of sustainability through opening up opportunities for more people globally to connect without the need for a lot of money or ecological resources to travel. This article discusses the idea of sustainable library services and opportunities through the virtual world. The two authors also present a case study of their online-only virtual internship experiences to demonstrate firsthand the application of these ideas. Nachhaltigkeit wird oft als ein gesundes Gleichgewicht zwischen Umwelt, Wirtschaft und Gleichstellung beschrieben. Online Learning kann diese drei verbundenen Konzepte der Nachhaltigkeit fördern. Hierdurch eröffnen sich neue Möglichkeiten für mehr Menschen, sich global miteinander zu vernetzen, ohne Einsatz von Geld oder ökologischen Ressourcen für Reisen. Der Beitrag diskutiert die Idee von nachhaltigen Bibliotheksservices und Möglichkeiten, die sich durch die virtuelle Welt ergeben. Die beiden Autorinnen präsentieren außerdem ihre Erfahrung eines rein virtuellen Praktikums, um die praktische Anwendung dieser Ideen zu verdeutlichen.

Librarians recognize that the idea of libraries as a place for just books is ludicrous and has been for decades. ``We go with the `great libraries build great communities' mantra,'' says Nancy Coriaty, deputy town librarian for branch services at Fairfield (Conn.) Public Library. ``If we see something we think will benefit the community, we go for it.'' It was with that thought in mind that the library created a seed library at its Fairfield Woods branch in 2011.

Os 17 Objetivos de Desenvolvimento Sustentável (ODS), aprovados na Cimeira das Nações Unidas em setembro de 2015, são uma agenda ambiciosa, que deverá ser implementada por todos os países do Mundo até 2030. “A concretização dos ODS dependerá não apenas do compromisso dos governos, mas também do envolvimento dos cidadãos. As crianças e os jovens são centrais neste apelo global de participação e a escola é essencial para dar a conhecer a nova agenda global, inspirar e incentivar as pessoas a participarem no desenvolvimento das comunidades.” (UNICEF) Ciente da importância e magnitude destes Objetivos, a Rede Municipal de Leitura Pública iniciou, no ano letivo 2019/2020, um programa de atividade inteiramente centrado nesta temática. O objetivo principal é dar a conhecer os ODS junto do público escolar, através de um conjunto de iniciativas ligadas à leitura e à escrita.

The inclusion of libraries and access to information in national and regional development plans will contribute to meeting the global United Nations 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. In support of this goal, IFLA has published a booklet ``Access and Opportunity for All: How Libraries contribute to the United Nations 2030 Agenda'' of examples and recommendations for policymakers demonstrating the contribution of libraries to the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
